Restaurant and bar meals

At The King George we offer a range of high quality meals as well as pub grub. Our chefs make as much as they can on the premises including our popular steak & ale pie and smoked haddock fishcakes. We try to keep the food miles down by sourcing many of our produce locally including Bewley's Cumberland sausage, Taw House Farm's Beef-Sunday Roast and Donnan's fish of Whitehaven.

Our full menu is available regardless of where you choose to sit.

Ales

Again, as with the food we try our best to supply many of our real ales from local northern breweries, and through the busy periods we frequently have up to ten ales on at any one time, from lights, to mild's and stouts. With over 150 different real ales in the area, our ten hand pulls change daily. Our nearest breweries are Strands Brewery in Nether Wasdale, with great beers such as Red Screes and Errmmm..., then Great Gable, (their Wastwater Gold is lush), and then there is Yates Brewery, Ulverston, Coniston and Foxfield Brewery to name just a few. Plus our Guest ales from Moorhouses Brewery in Burnley, Bank Top Brewery in Bolton, Prospect Brewery in Wigan, and Partners in Dewsbury. We're not "best inn the west" for nowt.
As well as our selection of real ales we also boast a wide selection of wines sold by the bottle or glass, over 100 single and highland malt whiskies and a variety of soft drinks and juices for children and drivers.

If real ale is your thing, then come to The King!
